Hi all - I have something really interesting to share today!
Many founders I speak to are not interested in marketing/advertising on Facebook. Maybe you don't believe your audience is on there, or you think it's a bit oversaturated or overhyped.
Well, Hubspot came out with their annual social media report; they surveyed 301 people asking, "Which social media platform do you spend the most time on each week?" And guess what!
Even though TikTok has been taking the world by storm, and all that hype around Clubhouse a few months ago, almost 60% of users said they spend the most time on Facebook, followed by YouTube with 14%, and even Instagram barely had more than 10%.
So - consumers STILL use Facebook, a lot. Don't overlook it!
However, this doesn't mean you should just focus entirely on Facebook and delete your Instagram. After all, this survey did only ask 300-ish people. This doesn't mean that your audience is on Facebook. If your business is targeting Gen Z, for example, you should definitely look into TikTok.
Today I just wanted to show you Facebook is not to be overlooked, but this definitely doesn't mean it's the one-size-fits-all solution for all your businesses.
When planning your marketing, focus on first understanding your audience, who they are, what they like, where they get their information. From there, do some online research (there are some great social analysis tools out there) to find out what social media channels your audience uses. That's how you figure out what channels to focus your marketing and advertising efforts on.
